CHI St. Alexius Health Williston offers the regions only full-service imaging center and is committed to investing in state of the art equipment and technology to provide the highest level of imaging services.

Radiology services include Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound (US), Computed Tomography (CT),  Nuclear Medicine (NM), a Mammography and Bone Density (DEXA). A positron emission tomography (PET)/CT scanner is also available at CHI St. Alexius Health - Williston Medical Center twice a month.  Each of these machines offers vastly enhanced image quality, meaning improved diagnostic capabilities for your physician.

Along with our Board Certified Radiologist, Dr. Hegge, our imaging staff consisting of Registered NM, CT, MR, US, Mammography, and Radiologic Technologists work to provide the best imaging studies for our patients.

Computed Tomography
CT studies are performed on a Philips Ingenuity 128-Slice CT Scanner.  This scanner allows us to lower our dose and reduce the amount of IV contrast we use while increasing our image quality.   This scanner also offers Orthopedic Metal Artifact Reduction or O-MAR which improves the image quality by reducing the streaking artifact caused by metal implants. The CT machine scans and reconstructs images much faster than previous technology while producing much higher image quality. Benefits to patients include shorter scan times and less radiation exposure.

Our Brilliance Big Bore CT Scanner is perfect for procedures, radiation oncology planning and a larger bore for those patients who may be claustrophobic who would be more at ease with a wider opening.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
The Philips Ingenia 1.5T MR system provides our patients with fast scans, exceptional comfort and unmatched quality.

Has your doctor ever recommended that you get an MRI exam? Or are you simply curious about this safe imaging test? There's no better place to schedule an MRI exam than CHI St. Alexius Health Williston Medical Center. That's because we're the only facility in the region with the Philips Ingenia 1.5T, the first-ever digital broadband MR scanner. This revolutionary system delivers superb image resolution, fast exams, and a more open patient experience you can feel good about.

It's fast. Our Ingenia 1.5T can scan patients of varying size, age, and medical condition in less time than previous MR systems on the market. Routine exams of the brain, spine, knee, ankle and liver are quick and easy. And even more complex scans may only last 15 to 40 minutes.

It's comfortable. The revolutionary Philips Ingenia 1.5T has a wide-bore opening to make you feel less confined. In fact, most scans can be done with your head completely out of the system.

It's accurate. The Philips Ingenia 1.5T delivers the revealing images your doctor needs to help diagnose your medical condition correctly.

This makes it easier for your doctor to identify and pinpoint any potential problems and helps reduce the number of repeat exams.

The right choice for imaging Philips Ingenia 1.5T is one more reason to ask your doctor about scheduling your next diagnostic imaging exam at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston.

Nuclear Medicine
The General Electric Infinia is a dual-head gamma camera allowing us to use shorter scan times and aiding in patient comfort.  With new technology, we are able to achieve improved image quality.
Some of the Nuclear Medicine studies offered include: Cardiolites, Stress tests including wall-motion studies and ejection fractions, HIDA studies, bone scans, thyroid imaging, renal scans and MUGA studies.

The Hologic LORAD Selenia offers high-resolution superior digital mammography images for screening and diagnosis of breast cancer. One benefit is a one third reduction in dose of radiation to the breast over conventional film radiography. All mammograms performed at CHI St. Alexius Health - Williston Medical Center analyzed R2 CAD (computer-aided detection) system. CAD is a computer-based process designed to analyze mammographic images for suspicious areas.

A General Electric Precision 500 technology is used to perform: Upper and Lower GI studies, PICC Line Placement, IVP, Barium Swallow studies, VCUG, Myelography, and various other procedures.

The Imaging Services Department also utilizes a GE 9800 Mobile C-arm.  This unit is primarily used in the surgical suite for orthopedic and abdominal imaging.

The Philips IU22  and MindRay DC-8 EXP Ultrasound machines are capable of superb image quality for all patient types, advanced volume imaging solutions, innovative workflow tools and exceptional scanning ease.  From abdomens to babies and Venous Doppler to echocardiograms these US machines can tackle all your needs.

Both machines are also used for procedures as well including, but not limited to, thyroid, breast or lymphnode biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis and assisting in PICC Line placements.

Bone Densitometry
The Imaging Services Department utilizes a GE Lunar bone densitometer (DEXA scanner), which measures bone density painlessly.  The bone densitometer uses small amounts of x-ray to produce images of the spine, hip, or even the whole body or forearm(s) in instances of hip replacements.
