CHI St. Alexius Health Williston offers the regions only full-service
imaging center and is committed to investing in state of the art equipment and
technology to provide the highest level of imaging services.
Radiology services include a new MRI along with an Ultrasound, a Mindray for US and the Phillips for
CT, nuclear medicine, a digital mammography system. A positron
emission tomography (PET)/CT scanner is also available at CHI St. Alexius
Health - Williston Medical Center twice a month. Each of these machines
offers vastly enhanced image quality, meaning improved diagnostic capabilities
for your physician.
Along with our Board Certified Radiologist, Dr. Hegge, our imaging staff
consisting of Registered CT, MR, Ultrasound, Mammography, and Radiologic
Technologists work to provide the best imaging studies for our
CT studies are performed on a GE Light Speed 16-slice CT scanner. The CT
machine scans and reconstructs images much faster than previous technology
while producing much higher image quality. Benefits to patients include shorter
scan times and less radiation exposure.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging
The 1.5 Tesla GE Signa MRI provides our patients with quality MR
images. This modality allows us to perform non-invasive contrast enhanced
angiography (MRA) and the ability to detect and differentiate types of strokes,
as well as perform a whole host of other types of procedures.
The General Electric Infinia is a dual-head gamma camera allowing us to use
shorter scan times and aiding in patient comfort. With new technology, we
are able to achieve improved image quality.
Some of the Nuclear Medicine studies offered include: Cardiolites, Stress tests
including wall-motion studies and ejection fractions, HIDA studies, bone scans,
thyroid imaging, renal scans and MUGA studies.
The Imaging Services Department offers a revolutionary new mammography
system. The Hologic Selenia offers top of the line technology in Full
Field Digital Mammography as well as excellent image quality. Another benefit
is a one third reduction in dose of radiation to the breast over conventional
radiography. All mammograms performed at CHI St. Alexius Health - Williston
Medical Center analyzed R2 CAD (computer-aided detection) system. CAD is a
computer-based process designed to analyze mammographic images for suspicious areas.
A General Electric Precision 500 technology is used to perform: Upper and
Lower GI studies, PICC Line Placement, IVP, Barium Swallow studies, VCUG,
Mylography, and various other procedures.
The Imaging Services Department also utilizes a GE 9800 Mobile C-arm.
This unit is primarily used in the surgical suite for orthopedic and abdominal
A Philips IU22 Ultrasound machine and the IU22 is a state of the art
ultrasound machine capable of providing 3D / 4D images.
The Imaging Services Department utilizes a GE Lunar bone densitometer (DEXA
scanner), which measures bone density painlessly. The bone densitometer
uses small amounts of x-ray to produce images of the spine, hip, or even the
